Monika Rahman

Monika Rahman is a lawyer with the Department of Justice. Since 2010, she has primarily maintained a litigation practice in criminal, administrative, and constitutional law. From January 2024 to August 2025, Ms. Rahman was Special Legal Counsel to the judges of the Supreme Court of Canada where she was responsible for providing the judges expert legal advice on a broad range of legal matters. Prior to her career in law, she worked in policy research and rights-based advocacy for non-profit organizations in the areas of sexual and reproductive rights, sustainable development, and post-conflict development.
 
Ms. Rahman is a co-author on the third edition of Cannabis Law (Thomson Reuters, forthcoming Fall 2026).
