Claudia Guertin completed her legal studies at the University of Ottawa in the Canadian Law Program, where she also earned a master’s degree in law with thesis. She is now a doctoral candidate in Legal Studies at Carleton University. Her research focuses on sexual assault, women’s rights, and the intersectional dynamics that shape access to justice. Her doctoral work examines the legislative evolution of the Criminal Code provision on incest.
She has worked at the Supreme Court of Canada and served as a student-editor for the Canadian Journal of Women and the Law. Her approach is interdisciplinary and attentive to the social realities that influence legal responses, extending as well to constitutional law and the interactions between institutions and substantive justice.
