Gabriel Cadieux teaches legal history at the Faculty of Law, Civil Law Section, as well as in the Canadian Law Program.
Gabriel Cadieux has been a PhD candidate in Law at the University of Ottawa since 2025. His research focuses on contemporary applications of property law engineering, particularly in the area of agroecological social-purpose trusts, as well as legal history, with a particular emphasis on the history of private law concepts.
Before beginning his doctoral studies, Gabriel Cadieux earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.L.) from the University of Ottawa (2024) and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Ottawa (2025). His master's thesis examined how Roman law and its rediscovery during the Middle Ages contributed to the development of the modern concept of public ownership in property law.
In addition, Gabriel Cadieux is involved in a research group that examines the legal and sociological issues associated with video games. As part of this interdisciplinary project, he studies the interaction between virtual content purchased by online players and property law concepts, as well as the validity of video game privacy policies under private law.
Before teaching law, Gabriel Cadieux worked in the field of taxation within the Government of Canada.
