Congratulations to Nadia Effendi, LLB ’03, who was named Litigator of the Year at the Canadian Law Awards.

Selection in this category is based on the quantity, quality, importance and innovativeness of litigation work performed during calendar year 2021.

Nadia Effendi is a partner at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG), and practices in Toronto and Ottawa. She represents a wide range of clients, in both English and French, in complex and often high-profile proceedings and across a broad range of industries. She has subject-matter expertise in transportation law, electoral law, access to information, and official language rights.

Ms. Effendi regularly appears before all levels of federal and provincial courts, administrative tribunals, and commissions of inquiry, and has appeared numerous times before the Supreme Court of Canada. She is a member of the CBA Federal Courts Bench and Bar Liaison Committee, the chair of BLG's Appellate Advocacy Group and serves as past president of the Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario (AJEFO).

The Litigator of the Year Award is Effendi’s second major recognition in the past year; she was named as one of Benchmark Litigation's Top 50 Women in Canada last summer.
