The Ontario government announced the appointment of a new associate judge to the Superior Court of Justice, effective April 11, 2024.

Associate Justice Karen Perron was called to the Ontario bar in 2004. Associate Justice Perron started her practice as an associate in the litigation group at Merovitz Potechin in Ottawa. In 2011, Associate Justice Perron joined Borden Ladner Gervais as an associate, eventually rising to partner in 2014, with a broad litigation practice focusing on commercial litigation.

Associate Justice Perron has been very engaged in the legal profession and served as president of the Ontario Bar Association from 2021 to 2023 and has dedicated time to volunteering in community initiatives such as the Law Society Foundation’s Lawyers Feed the Hungry program, and the board of the Community Information Centre of Ottawa. Associate Justice Perron won the Ontario Bar Association’s Linda Adlam Manning Award for Volunteerism in 2016, was nominated for the Canadian Law Awards’ Female Trailblazer of the Year and has been recognized multiple times in Best Lawyers in Canada in the corporate and commercial litigation field.

A proud franco-Ontarian from Timmins, Associate Justice Perron is fluently bilingual in English and French and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ottawa—both in French.

Congratulations to Justice Perron on this appointment!
