The Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, has announced the appointment of J.C. André Lehoux, LLB ‘94, a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario in Haileybury.

The Common Law Section is thrilled to announce the results of our eleventh annual internal awards program.

Recognizing a career defined by sustained research excellence, institutional leadership, and a growing influence on technology law and policy in Canada and internationally, Dr. Florian Martin-Bariteau has been promoted to rank of Full Professor in the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section at the University of Ottawa.

The Common Law Section has secured $4.2 million in funding from The Law Foundation of Ontario (LFO), through the Comprehensive Program (2026–2029).

Canadian Lawyer has released its list of nominees for the 2026 Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in Canada honours. Two professors from the Common Law Section have been recognized among this year’s finalists.

Ronan Pons, a graduate of the Faculty of Law, has won the best doctoral thesis in law award from the Association des professeures et professeurs de droit du Québec (APDQ). The prize was awarded on May 2 at the Association's annual congress.

Un diplômé du programme national de la Faculté de droit, Jacob Graff (J.D. et LL.L. 2025) a obtenu le poste très prisé d’auxiliaire juridique à la Cour suprême du Canada. Il travaillera auprès de l’honorable Mary Moreau.

Professor Geneviève Dufour has been selected to serve on the Sustainable Trade Impact Assessment (STIA) Advisory Group, established by Global Affairs Canada.
