Biography
Dr. Macdonald is an associate professor at the University of Ottawa, a clinician investigator at The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and the Emergency and Trauma Radiology Section Head in the Department of Medical Imaging at The Ottawa Hospital. He is also a member of the Body Imaging Section at TOH. He is the past Director of CT Imaging at The Ottawa Hospital and served a regional cancer lead for Ontario Health. He was the Director of the Written Test Committee for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a Royal College examiner for 10 years. He is the Vice Chair of Quality and Patient Safety for our department at the University of Ottawa and TOH.
His areas of clinical and educational scholarship include structured reporting in cancer and bowel disease, CT radiation awareness, evidence-based radiology, and communities of practice as a platform for physician leadership and organizational learning. He launched a regional Medical Imaging Community of Practice for Eastern Ontario to facilitate peer engagement, and learning and to improve the patient and provider experience in medical imaging departments across the region.
