Biography
Dr. Elio Belfiore is an Anesthesiologist and Clinician Investigator with advanced training from leading Canadian institutions. Their academic journey is marked by an exceptional commitment to education, clinical excellence, and research, evidenced by four distinct Fellowships. They completed advanced subspecialty training in Obstetric Anesthesia at the University of Ottawa, alongside Fellowships in Simulation and Anesthesia Education and Advanced Clinical Practice at St. Michael's Hospital (SMH), and Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC), all affiliated with the University of Toronto.
As an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa, he leads the Obstetric Anesthesia Civic Module at The Ottawa Hospital. Their expertise is utilized as a faculty member for the uOttawa simulation program, the uOttawa Global Health Program, and the POCUS residency rotation. He is also assigned as an ASA POCUS Mentor.
Academically, Dr. Elio Belfiore holds a Master of Health Science (MHSc) in Translational Research from the University of Toronto, which complements their research interests. This led to their appointment as a Clinician Investigator at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, driving innovation in areas including Obstetric Anesthesia, POCUS, and Medical Education.
