Biography
Dr. Nakua's research group is focused on investigating the neurobiological mechanism underlying the transmission of psychiatric illness from one generation to the next. Dr. Nakua’s research involves the application of multimodal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques along with clinical and cognitive phenotypic data. Dr. Nakua’s research capitalizes on interdisciplinary research including multimodal neuroimaging, advanced statistics, and diverse clinical populations to understand the neurobiological risk factors of intergenerational transmission with the ultimate goal of developing novel interventions to mitigate this transmission in high-risk families. Dr. Nakua is also interested in ensuring that neuroimaging research is reproducible, replicable, and generalizable to ensure that the field is able to advance cumulative knowledge on the neurobiological underpinnings of complex psychiatric conditions.
