Biography

Dr. Haruto Sugawara is an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology, Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics and a vascular and interventional radiologists in the Department of Medical Imaging at The Ottawa Hospital.  He was an interventional radiologist in Japan prior to coming to Canada to complete additional training.  Dr. Sugawara also obtained a PhD in Medical Science at the University of Tokyo.

Dr. Sugawara is the co-director of the Prep for Call CME course. This course is attended by most PGY-2 residents in Canada, prior to beginning their call duties.  It is one of our flagship CME courses.  He is also on our undergraduate medical education committee. Dr. Sugawara is passionate about research and has a bright future in driving innovation in our department. He has been on staff since January 2025.
