Biography

Dr. Jean Seely is a professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa and the head of the Breast Imaging section in the department of Medical Imaging at The Ottawa Hospital and the hospitals served in the Ottawa Region. She practices clinical breast imaging and intervention, and clinical thoracic imaging and intervention.

Dr. Seely has published over 100 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, 10 book chapters and multiple reviews on intervention in the chest and breast, breast MRI, diagnosis of pleural disease, and screening mammography. She is a deputy editor for the Canadian Association of Radiologists Journal. She won an Order of Ontario in 2025 for her work on bringing breast screening to women between the ages of 40 and 50 to the province.
