Biography
Dr. Johanna Ortiz Jimenez is a diagnostic neuroradiologist in the Department of Medical Imaging at The Ottawa Hospital and an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology, Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics at the University of Ottawa. She holds a Master’s degree in Health Professions Education from Queen’s University. Prior to coming to the University of Ottawa, Dr. Ortiz was the Program Director for Undergraduate Medical Education in the Department of Radiology at Queen’s University. She has been on staff since March, 2026.
Dr. Ortiz is the recipient of the Queen’s University Department of Diagnostic Radiology Teaching Award (2022) and the Canadian Radiological Foundation CRF/CHAR Research Award (2025). She was a Visiting Professor at the University of Nairobi Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Radiation Medicine in 2025, reflecting her commitment to global health education and international academic collaboration.
Her academic interests include undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, simulation‑based education, resident mentorship, global health initiatives, and clinical neuroradiology, with a particular focus on head and neck pathology.
