Biography
Dr. Marija Popovic is a Medical Physicist in the Department of Medical Physics at The Ottawa Hospital. She holds a PhD in Medical Physics from McMaster University and completed her clinical residency at Hamilton Health Sciences. Dr. Popovic is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Medical Physicists (FCCPM) and previously held academic and clinical appointments at McGill University and the McGill University Health Centre.
Dr. Popovic's research and clinical work focus on reirradiation, cumulative dose assessment, and intraoperative radiotherapy. She chairs the COMP Reirradiation Advancement Initiative and serves as a member of several international collaborations, including the ESTRO Physics Working Group on Reirradiation and the Reirradiation Collaborative Group (ReCOG). A long-standing contributor to the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP), she has served on the COMP Board of Directors for many years and now serves on the COMP Executive Board. She is also active in medical physics education, serving on multiple AAPM committees related to teaching and mentoring, and has taught and supervised graduate and undergraduate research trainees throughout her career.
