Biography
Dr. Fleming is a Full Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa. In addition, she is the past Chief of the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Division at CHEO, where she is on Active Staff.
Since completing a Clinical Fellowship in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (PAG) at l’ Université de Montréal in 2001, she developed and implemented a comprehensive PAG Curriculum within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa, the only bilingual PAG curriculum available in Canada. She has received national teaching awards including CREOG (Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology) and APOG (Association of Academic Professionals in Obstetrics and Gynecology of Canada) as well as received the “Educational Advancement and Innovation Award in Postgraduate Medical Education” at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Fleming is the recipient of several clinical and leadership awards such as SOGC Regional Achievement Award (2019), the prestigious Minister’s Medal Honouring Excellence in Quality and Safety and the ‘Best Innovation in System Coordination’ Award for her leadership in establishing an innovative Multidisciplinary Outreach Adolescent Obstetrics Program (2013).
In November 2020, Dr. Fleming was appointed Medical Director of Physician Health and Wellness at TOH. She is an alumnus of the Chief Wellness Officer program at Stanford WellMD (2022). Her organizational wellness leadership and influence is recognized nationally and internationally. She is the recipient of TOH Excellence Award for the Medical Staff Health and Wellness and has received a nomination for the AFMC Wellness Award. Dr. Fleming is passionate about People Wellness and believes that to effect meaningful and sustainable changes, an organizational approach is imperative.
