Biography
Dr. Richard Gilbert is a General and Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgeon at the Ottawa Hospital. He completed his medical school in Cork, Ireland followed by a General Surgery residency at the University of Ottawa. He then completed a two year fellowship in complex Hepatobiliary Surgery and Liver Transplant at Vancouver General Hospital.
Dr. Gilbert's clinic interests include complex vascular reconstructions, extended resections for cholangiocarcinoma, pancreaticoduodenectomy, hepatocellular carcinoma and surgical care for patients with advanced liver disease. His research interests include quality improvement in care delivery and technical approaches to complex hepatobiliary surgery.
