Dr. Andrea Evans is a general pediatrician at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and an epidemiologist at the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa. Her research focuses on child welfare and health disparities and she is dedicated to improving health outcomes for pediatric populations impacted by social determinants of health through policy-focused research. She is the scientific director of CanFos (Canadian Children in Foster Homes) which studies the health outcomes of children and youth in foster homes across Canada using rich linked national databases. Through her work, Dr. Evans uses participatory research and relationship based research principles to authentically work with people with lived experience and communities. Dr. Evans has written more than 20 published peer review articles and a book chapter. She is the co-chair of the Perinatal, Child, and Adolescent Health Theme Group for the Canadian Association for Health Services and Policy Research. She is currently accepting MSc students.
