About the Mock Panel sessions
FoM CIHR Mock Panels are a strategic, peer-based forum designed to test how strong science is interpreted in a CIHR review context, with a focus on hypothesis clarity, narrative coherence, and panel logic. These sessions simulate key aspects of CIHR review dynamics to help strengthen how proposals are positioned and understood by reviewers.
In small, moderated sessions, investigators present without slides and receive panel-style feedback aimed at identifying potential misinterpretations, strengthening the articulation of core hypotheses and research aims, and optimizing future CIHR submissions.
The format is structured as a reciprocal peer-review exercise:
- 3–5 investigators per session
- Each participant presents in turn and also serves as a mock panel member for peers
- 30 minutes per presentation within a 2-hour session
- Moderated by a CIHR-experienced chair
