Join us for the next Global Health Learning Network event featuring Dr. Francisco Oviedo-Gómez, Regional Coordinator for the Americas at Health Systems Global, for a seminar titled “Future-Focused Health Systems in a Changing World.”
Dr. Oviedo-Gómez will explore how health systems can adapt and transform in response to an increasingly complex global landscape shaped by climate change, conflict, shifting geopolitics, evolving governance and financing, digital transformation, and persistent health inequities. The seminar will consider the leadership, governance, and collaborative approaches needed to build more resilient, equitable, and sustainable health systems for the future.

About the Global Health Learning NetworkThe Global Health Learning Network is a platform for knowledge growth and exchange with the goal to build a community of practice in global health that reaches across researchers, practitioners, and learners from all global health domains to include members of the public with an interest in global health. The School of Epidemiology and Public Health, Bruyère Health, WHO Collaborating Centre for Knowledge Translation and Health Technology Assessment in Health Equity, and the International and Global Health Office (IGHO) are collaborating to host the global health learning network events. |
Dr. Francisco Oviedo-Gómez, MD, MPH
Featured Guest Speaker
Dr. Francisco Oviedo-Gómez is a physician and public health specialist with a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Costa Rica. He is an alumnus of the Pan American Health Organization’s Leaders in International Health Program and the Emerging Voices for Global Health (EV4GH) initiative.
He is currently a lecturer and researcher at the Schools of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Costa Rica. His academic work focuses on public health, epidemiology, health policy analysis, health systems, and health services management.
He previously worked at the Ministry of Health of Costa Rica (2004–2024), where he held leadership roles, including Department Director and Senior Advisor to the Minister’s Office. His work contributed to key national policies and initiatives, including the evaluation of the performance of the national health system.
He has also collaborated with international organizations, including the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the World Health Organization (WHO), Health Systems Global, and the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA).
