Save the date: 2026 Gairdner Lecture

The Faculty of Medicine is pleased to welcome 2026 Canada Gairdner International Award laureate Dr. Jeffery W. Kelly, recognized for discovering tafamidis, the first effective treatment for transthyretin amyloidosis and a landmark advance demonstrating the role of protein aggregation in neurodegeneration. 

Programming (*subject to change):

  • Networking Lunch: 12:00–1:30 p.m. (Atrium)
  • Lecture Program: 1:30–3:30 p.m. (Amphitheatre A)
  • Networking Reception: 3:30–4:00 p.m. (Atrium)

Dr. Kelly’s Early Career Investigator (ECI) selection will be announced in June. Presentation titles, along with more detailed programming for the lecture, will be announced in July.

Early career researchers are invited to apply for the 2026 Gairdner ECI competition—an exceptional opportunity to showcase emerging research excellence.
