Vice-President Research – Programs Reporting to the President, and as a member of the senior leadership team, among other areas, the VPR-P is accountable for the strategic oversight of the Scientific Institutes and serves in various capacities (e.g., co-chair, member) at key executive level governance committees. The VPR-P joins a senior leadership team consisting of the President, Executive Vice President and the Vice President Research – Learning Health Systems Research in the development of science initiatives, strategies, and policies. The incumbent also works closely with the Scientific Directors of CIHR’s 13 Institutes, and plays a key role in helping to guide the implementation of the Strategic Plan and accompanying Annual Action Plans. The incumbent helps to advance Canada’s health research agenda by representing the interests of CIHR in a variety of government, Tri-council, and national and international fora. Scientific Director, Institute of Cancer Research Reporting directly to the CIHR President, and working with the senior members of CIHR’s team as well as other Scientific Directors, the Scientific Director of CIHR-ICR will provide overall executive direction and scientific leadership for CIHR-ICR, and will champion and support health research and knowledge mobilization at the highest level of scientific excellence.
