The objective of this award is to recognize academic excellence and student engagement in faculty life, as well as in various pharmacy practice settings.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

  • Be enrolled full-time in the undergraduate Doctor of Pharmacy program at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa.

  • Have demonstrated involvement in faculty activities or in the health sector during the past year.

Selection Criteria

  • Academic results: 30%

  • Promotion of health and care in Francophone minority settings: 40%

  • Social responsibility: 30%

  • Two

    • One for the third-year cohort (regarding their involvement in second year for 2024–2025)

    • One for the second-year cohort (regarding their involvement in first year for 2024–2025)

Application

The application must be submitted and must include:
  • The candidate’s curriculum vitae

  • A brief summary of the research conducted by the candidate as part of their program

  • A letter of recommendation from a professor, preceptor, or employer who has observed the candidate’s involvement

Selection Committee

The selection committee consists of the following three members:

  • The program director, or a delegate, serving as chair

  • The associate director of student affairs, or a delegate

  • One additional member appointed by the director of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Note: At least one of the three members must be a licensed pharmacist.

Recognition

  • The Donor Relations Office will inform the donor (individual or organization) of the impact of their generosity on the student community at the University of Ottawa.

  • The Donor Relations Office is pleased to include the donor (individual or organization) in the University’s donor recognition and stewardship program, in order to acknowledge their generous contribution.

  • The Development Office will include each recipient’s profile in the annual financial report on endowed funds.

Financial Terms

  • All donations will be processed by the Gift Processing Office and credited to the appropriate account. The University accepts various forms of payment, such as credit card payments, gifts of securities, electronic transfers, and cheques made payable to the University of Ottawa.

  • The University invests the capital in accordance with its approved policies.

  • The portion of the income allocated to the fund’s purpose is credited to the usable account of the endowed fund, which is administered by the Financial Aid and Awards Service in accordance with Regulation 111: Endowment Funds.

  • The fund’s financial year begins on May 1 and ends on April 30 of the following year.

  • At the end of each financial year, the Finance Service informs the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the amount available for the fund, which in turn informs the relevant academic unit.

General Provisions

If, in the future, circumstances prevent the University of Ottawa from continuing to allocate the fund to its stated purposes, the University will make every effort to contact the donor (individual or organization) to consider alternative objectives for the fund. If the University is unable to reach the donor, or if the donor is deceased, it will allocate the fund to purposes it deems most beneficial to the University, while respecting the spirit of the fund and the original intent of the donation.
