L’amour entre femmes dans l’histoire occidentale brings together the voices of women who have expressed their love for another woman in private or in public in the West. Censorship surrounding this love makes it difficult to research and discover historical writings and episodes, starting with the transmission of Sappho's “heterosexualized” verses in the Christian tradition. The entire history of love between women cannot be confined to the realm of lesbianism. Women experiencing “romantic friendships”

Daniela Danna is a professor of sociology at the University of Salento (Italy). Among other works in Italian, she has published Maternità. De sostituzione? (Motherhood. Surrogate?) (2017); Du côté de la nature. L’ecologia spiegata agli umani (On the side of nature. Ecology explained to humans) (2018); The Weight of Numbers: Theory and Dynamics of Population (2019), as well as numerous articles on policies relating to prostitution, gender issues, violence against women, forced marriages, lesbianism, and the relationship between society and nature.
