The transformation of the gay and lesbian movement from the '70s to the present
Mar 2, 2026 — 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Homosexuals started their self-defence individually in the past centuries, and a first gay and lesbian movement started in the Weimarer Republic in the 1920s. Nazism and the war cancelled its traces, but in the '60 gays and lesbians started again to politically organize. The abbreviation LGBTQ+ has been used since the '90s, and in Italy it became widespread with the World Pride march in Rome in 2000. What were the goals of the gay and lesbian movement in the 70s and the '80s (when it came to Italy)? How did they change to those of the contemporary LGBTQ+ movement? Please note that the conference will be entirely in English, but a bilingual Q and A session will follow.
