Congratulations to Nnenna Okoli for obtaining two prestigious scholarships !

The International Development Research Award is a research award program that helps to build the capacity and careers of individuals by funding academic study and mobility, research, the development of complementary skills, and hands-on experience. The aim of this award is to nurture emerging researchers in Canada and in developing countries who will apply their research in innovative ways to solve development challenges.

Nnenna Okoli will be joining the Sustainable Inclusive Economies Division where she will receive hands-on experience in research and program management and support, grant administration, and the creation, dissemination, and use of knowledge from an international perspective. She will also receive funding for her research titled “Exploring the role of conditional cash transfers in driving economic empowerment and clean energy use among poor women in urban Nigeria”.

The Royal Commonwealth Society of Canada, Ottawa Chapter created this scholarship in honour of Arnold Smith, the first ever Secretary-General of the Commonwealth and a great Canadian. The award is given out annually to a student from a developing Commonwealth member country who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement.

Congratulations again to Nnenna Okoli, PhD Candidate at the School of International Development and Global Studies!
