I have always wanted to intern with an organization, so when the opportunity arose, I was determined to go through the process to secure an internship for the summer.

UNITAS,
Gender Equality Officer

In my opinion, an internship is a great way to gain experience in the field of international development and get a first impression of the type of work available within organizations.

After a few weeks, I was accepted as a Gender Equality Officer at the Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) and was then affiliated with a local organization in Bolivia called the National Union of Institutions for Social Action Work (UNITAS). My role involves developing modules on the care economy, gathering relevant documents, and writing about the subject. Since I am working in a fully Spanish-speaking environment, I needed considerable time to adapt, and I still face some challenges. However, I choose to see it in a positive light, viewing this as an opportunity for learning and personal growth.

Choosing to do an internship remotely was not an easy decision. I had many concerns and doubts about the experience, but in the end, I believe I made the right choice. This has been a valuable opportunity to gain experience, immerse myself in a different environment, and make new connections.

I would encourage anyone interested in this opportunity to take on the challenge, with the hope that in the coming years, this internship can take place in person, making the experience even more memorable and unique.
