Model UN 2026 Delegation from uOttawa's Faculty of Social Sciences
A delegation of students from uOttawa's Faculty of Social Scences recently represented Germany at the 2026 National Model United Nations (NMUN) conference in New York. At this year’s conference, the students won the Outstanding Delegation Award, in recognition of the quality of their participation in this international simulation.

During the five-day event, the students analyzed complex global issues and defended Germany’s diplomatic positions before international participants. Their contribution was particularly noted in several committees, notably at UNESCO, the Human Rights Council (HRC), and the First and Second Committees of the General Assembly (GA1 and GA2).

This experience builds on the knowledge gained in the NMUN course (FSS 3295), offered every winter quarter. This program allows students to apply their knowledge of international relations through hands-on immersion in the United Nations system.

This achievement reflects our faculty’s commitment to training leaders capable of understanding the complexities of today’s world and contributing, through dialogue and action, to the society of tomorrow.
