The award provides recipients with software, training, funding, books, and other professional development opportunities.

Breana Sanders was recognized for her work titled: “Ship-Source Underwater Noise in the Northwest Passage” where she used GIS to analyze how increasing vessel traffic overlaps with sensitive marine ecosystems and community-identified areas in the North.

A Biology Laboratory Teaching Assistant and MSc candidate in Environmental Sustainability at the University of Ottawa, Breana continues to explore how GIS technologies can support environmental research.

Competition for the scholarship was particularly strong this year, making this recognition an exceptional accomplishment! Congratulations to Breana on this well-deserved recognition.
