Dr. Jodi Edwards was awarded with the Early Career Researcher of the Year Award from the University of Ottawa’s Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation. Dr. Edwards is an associate professor in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health as well as the lead of the Brain-Heart Interconnectome Research Foundation 1, Clinical & Epidemiology Research.
She was recognized for her work on the brain-heart connection, developing early detection tools for stroke and dementia, and advancing non-invasive brain stimulation for stroke recovery.
In addition to her work with the Brain-Heart Interconnectome, she has been a strong advocate for equity in research and understanding how sex, gender, and social factors influence health and disease.
