Training Programs

The University of Ottawa’s Brain-Heart Interconnectome (BHI) initiative, supported by the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF), is advancing interdisciplinary research at the intersection of brain and heart health. The BHI CFREF program supports innovative research aimed at understanding the complex interactions between the brain and cardiovascular system to transform the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of related diseases. The program also places a strong emphasis on training and outreach, offering a range of opportunities related to BHI research through specialized training programs, knowledge mobilization initiatives, and student engagement activities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In Spring 2025, BHI will launch a program to support training awards/scholarships.
Program Highlights:
  • Training Levels: Master’s, PhD, and Postdoctoral
  • Research Scope: Open to BHI-related projects across all disciplines including engineering, science, social sciences, and arts
  • Interdisciplinary Requirement: Projects must be co-supervised by faculty from two different disciplines, with at least one supervisor that is a Core Academic Member of BHI.
  • Eligibility: Students from the University of Ottawa, University of Saskatchewan, and McGill University
