Dr. Douglas Sarro is a Faculty member at the Centre for Law, Technology and Society and an Assistant Professor within the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section at the University of Ottawa.
Dr. Sarro’ research focuses on corporate law, securities regulation, and the relationships among innovation, law, and politics. His work appears or is forthcoming in the McGill Law Journal, Osgoode Hall Law Journal, Queen's Law Journal, and Canadian Business Law Journal, among other venues. He has also commented on business law issues for the Globe and Mail and other media outlets.
Before pursuing an academic career, Doug clerked at the Court of Appeal for Ontario, practiced corporate law at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York, and was a senior advisor at the Ontario Securities Commission. He remains engaged with the industry as Academic Director of the uOttawa Startup Law Clinic.
Dr. Sarro holds a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School, where he graduated as a gold medallist, and an SJD (doctorate in law) from the University of Toronto. He is a member of the bars of New York and Ontario and is a CFA charterholder.
