Abstract

The aim of this conference is to present the results of research carried out in the borough of Verdun, Montréal, as part of a new project developed by the community organization Action Prévention Verdun, focusing on the prevention of sexual exploitation in the borough, at the end of its first stage. The project in question is divided into three stages, the first of which consists of documenting the phenomenon of sexual exploitation in Verdun, due to the lack of information on the subject. The second stage aims to develop an action plan based on the results of the research and consultation with stakeholders involved in working with young people in Verdun. Finally, the third stage involves implementing the action plan. The report that will be presented concerns the results of the research (first stage) and is divided into two parts. The first part develops the concept of sexual exploitation and explains how legislation defines it, regulates it and reacts to it. The second part responds to the needs of the community by providing an analysis of the current situation, highlighting the factors to be taken into account regarding this phenomenon in the borough.
