Germain-Brière Conference on the war in Ukraine and IHL

Germain-Brière Conference: The war in Ukraine & International Humanitarian Law

The Germain-Brière Conference is an annual conference that touches on a current legal issue. It was instituted in 2008 to honour the memory of Mr. Germain Brière, emeritus professor at the Civil Law Section where he taught for over thirty years. Professor Brière wrote several articles and books, particularly on estate law, and was described by the Academy of Arts and Humanities of the Royal Society of Canada as "one of the great contemporary civil lawyers". This year's theme is the war in Ukraine and IHL.
