Starting university brings a lot of new experiences, and hearing from students who’ve already been through them can make all the difference. Join our How to prepare for university sessions, led by your regional mentors and offered in cities across Canada.

Who can join?
New students starting in fall 2026, as well as family members and legal guardians.
Where and when?
Sessions will take place between July 27 and August 7, 2026, in 27 cities across Canada, from Halifax to Vancouver. Session times are indicated in the local time of each host city.
You can find the full schedule, including session times, in the Schedule of sessions section further down the page. The approximate duration of each session is 1 hour.

Session format
- Presentation: 45 minutes
- Q&A: 30 minutes

Our in-person sessions are the best way to get the most out of this experience. You’ll hear directly from uOttawa students who are ready to share what they’ve learned.
Expect honest conversations and practical tips to help you start university with confidence. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students from your area and build relationships before the academic year even begins.
Stay after the Q&A to chat one-on-one with your regional mentor, get personalized answers to your questions and start building your community.
If you can’t attend in person, a virtual session on August 12 at 7pm EDT will cover key insights and guidance so you can feel prepared for what’s ahead.
