We recommend that you include a study plan in your application for a study permit.

Upload the study plan in the “Client Information” section of your document checklist in the IRCC secure account (GCKey) or in the “Additional Documents” section in the IRCC portal.

What is a study plan?

A study plan is a document included in your study permit application. It allows the visa officer assessing your file to understand why you’d like to complete your post-secondary studies in Canada and how your studies fit with your objectives.

The study plan:

  • Should not exceed one page
  • Should be factual
  • Should be direct (explain how studying in Canada will offer you opportunities that studying in your home country would not)
  • Should be looked over by someone with strong English language skills
