OLBI congratulates the Hon. Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages, on the granting of royal assent June 19 for Bill C-13, which is meant to modernize the Official Languages Act. This significant reform will have major benefits for Canadian society for years to come.

Moreover, OLBI is very happy to see the new commitments undertaken by the Government of Canada concerning language teacher training and promotion of official bilingualism. This new law is a historic gain for French and for Canada’s francophones.
