Professor Sharma's research interests include environmental governance, geopolitics of global energy transitions, and urban environmental politics. She can touch on Canada’s need for more entrenched commitments to renewable energy infrastructure.

“Given challenging geopolitical and economic circumstances, Canada needs to focus on practical policy pathways to protect both the environment and people in challenging climate conditions.

Because we live in an era where oil and gas is a more volatile and expensive commodity, we must understand that green approaches are more than just environmental policies but economic and security policies too. Another pertinent example as we move into upcoming warmer months, policymakers should ask themselves: are we doing enough to fund heat proofing activities, especially for those most vulnerable in substandard housing conditions?”
