What was your last career change?
This was a decade ago, I pivoted from teaching to business analysis because I wanted to challenge myself.
What made it successful?
Equipping myself by learning new skills, having the right mentors and a positive mindset all contributed to making my career change successful.
What was the biggest challenge in adapting to your new role?
Moving out of my comfort zone and to an entirely new terrain was my biggest challenge while adapting to my new role, but I have no regrets today!
What advice would you give to someone considering a career change?
Considering a career change? Go for it! You are capable of more than you think! You certainly never know what you can do if you don’t try and if you fail at some point, fail forward by turning your mistakes into growth.
How can colleagues help someone transition into their new responsibilities?
Transitioning into a new role is a bold yet challenging step. There will be so many questions, lots of learning to do as well. It is important for colleagues to be patient with the transitioning colleague, reach out, offer support and guidance that will help ease the process.
What do you look forward to in your day?
I look forward to my nature/wellness walks, watching the sunset and spending time with my family, these are some of the activities that help me keep the spring in my step.
