New keyless locking solution to physically secure your laptops

Information Technology
Locked laptop.
Returning to campus brings its share of excitement. We can see our colleagues in person, collaborate and exchange face-to-face, hold meetings again.

But it also brings its share of precautions needed to ensure security, starting with your electronic devices because it is a treasure trove of personal/confidential information. You don’t want anyone gaining unauthorized access.

Information Technology has identified a solution that is Dell-compatible to physically lock your laptops, the Kensington N17 Combination Lock. It provides an extra layer of security to deter theft. Although other security measures such as anti-virus, encryption, strong password protect your laptop from unauthorized entry to your files, they do not protect it from getting stolen.

We are still searching for an option compatible with Apple MacBook laptops since those models do not have the integrated and specific hole to lock the laptop.

You can purchase the standard lock for your Dell laptop through the Self-Service Centre

The unique features of the Kensington N17 Combination Lock include:

  • Tough Lock Head – verified and tested for lock lifecycle and corrosion.

  • Unique Lock Engagement – it has expanding side “hooks” that grab the internal sides of the wedge-shaped lock slot, creating a strong connection between the device frame and the lock.
alt=""
  • Carbon Steel Cable – protects desks, tables, and other fixed-structure attachment points due to its plastic sheathing.
alt=""
  • One-Handed Attachment – a slider to allow for quick and easy engagement to your laptop.
  • Resettable 4-Wheel Number Code – enables you to select multiple combinations.
  • Register & Retrieve™ – Allows for quick, easy, and secure lookup if the combination is ever lost or forgotten.
