The University of Ottawa will confer nine honorary doctorates during this year's spring Convocation ceremonies to be held June 8-12, 2025, at the Rogers Centre, to individuals whose exceptional careers have had a significant impact on their field of expertise and on society.

The honorary doctorate of the University of Ottawa celebrates those who, through their commitment, their work or their influence, embody the values that our institution strives to share. These honours not only recognize remarkable careers, but they also celebrate a vision of the world, a quest for excellence and a commitment to the common good that inspires future generations of students. 

The 2025 recipients of honorary doctorates are: 

Elder Simon Brascoupé - of the Bear Clan, member of the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation, adjunct professor and researcher at Carleton University and Trent University. 

Gilles Desjardins - founder and president of real estate company Brigil

Boucar Diouf - biologist, oceanographer and humorist. 

Abby Hoffman - former Olympic athlete, activist and public servant. 

Roberta L. Jamieson - former President and CEO of lndspire, Canada's largest aboriginal charity.

John McEntyre – Former electrical engineer, adventurer and philanthropist.

Alanis Morissette - author, composer, singer.

Égide Royer - psychologist and school success specialist.

Chief Justice Michael H. Tulloch - Chief Justice of Ontario and President of the Ontario Court of Appeal.

The honorary doctorates will be conferred during the University of Ottawa's Convocation ceremonies, to be held June 8-12, 2025, at the Rogers Centre.
