The Black History Month Gala 2026 invites you to an evening of celebration, reflection, and community. Centered on the theme Souls of Resilience, the gala honours the lived experiences, creativity, and leadership of Black students and community members whose contributions continue to shape our campus and beyond.

The Black History Month Gala 2026 invites you to an evening of celebration, reflection, and community. Centered on the theme Souls of Resilience, the gala honours the lived experiences, creativity, and leadership of Black students and community members whose contributions continue to shape our campus and beyond.
For the first time, this event is co-hosted by:
- Black Student-Athlete Advocacy Council (BSAAC)
- Black Student Leaders Association (BSLA)
- Racialized and Indigenous Student Experience (RISE) Centre, a service of the University of Ottawa Students' Union
- Office of the Vice-Provost, Equity, Diversity and Inclusive Excellence
- University Student Affairs Programming Team
- Ottawa Gee-Gees
The evening will feature the Black Excellence Awards, artistic performances, and moments of storytelling that spotlight excellence across academics, athletics, leadership, and community impact.
Guests will enjoy light refreshments and meaningful opportunities to connect with peers, leaders, and advocates. Proceeds from the event directly support Black student scholarships, helping to expand access, opportunity, and belonging.
