Event details

This event is in English. The event in French will take place on August 11 at 1.30 p.m. EDT. View the session offered in French.

What to expect

The duration of the session will be approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. This will be an informal, student-led presentation focused on sharing what we wish we’d known before our first term. You can expect:

  • Practical tips from current students
  • An open “ask anything” format throughout the session (seriously, anything!)
  • No pressure to participate. You’re welcome to keep your camera off and simply listen.

What we’ll cover

  • Pre-arrival basics, including travelling to Ottawa and moving into your accommodation
  • Banking, paying tuition and applying for scholarships and bursaries
  • Working in Canada and accessing academic support
  • Things to do on campus and around the city
  • Your questions

Why you should join

A lot of questions you probably have don’t always get clear answers online, and trying to find answers alone can be stressful.

These sessions can help you:

  • Feel more at ease about starting university
  • Walk away feeling a little more confident (and a little less overwhelmed)
  • Have a point of contact when you arrive
