What to expect

The duration of each session will be approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. This will be an informal, student-led presentation focused on sharing what we wish we’d known before our first term. You can expect:

  • Practical tips from current students
  • An open “ask anything” format throughout the session (seriously, anything!)
  • No pressure to participate. You’re welcome to keep your camera off and simply listen.

What we’ll cover

  • Pre-arrival basics, including travelling to Ottawa and moving into your accommodation
  • Banking, paying tuition and applying for scholarships and bursaries
  • Working in Canada and accessing academic support
  • Things to do on campus and around the city
  • Your questions

Why you should join

A lot of questions you probably have don’t always get clear answers online, and trying to find answers alone can be stressful.

These sessions can help you:

  • Feel more at ease about starting university
  • Walk away feeling a little more confident (and a little less overwhelmed)
  • Have a point of contact when you arrive
