Dictée PGL

Dictée P.G.L. dictation competition on the theme of financial well-being

With the Mois de la Francophonie approaching, the University of Ottawa is proud to take part in the Dictée P.G.L. de la Francophonie competition. Test your knowledge of French by taking this dictation read by Pierre-Olivier Zapp (TVA Nouvelles). No need to be a dictation wizard to enter!

New for 2026: The competition now includes a Francophile* category, to recognize the efforts of those who use French as a second language!

Event details:

  • 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.: Panel discussion on the dictée theme, financial well-being
  • 12 p.m.: Dictation read by Pierre-Olivier Zappa
  • 12:30 p.m.: Antidote version of the dictation revealed

If you don’t wish to attend the discussion panel and only wish to take the French dictation, please arrive no later than 11:45 a.m.

To get to the University, you can take the LRT or the University shuttle by presenting your student or employee ID card (see shuttle bus timetable).

You must write the dictation by hand, so bring a few blank sheets of paper and a pen.

The person who wins the dictation competition on February 26 will have the opportunity to participate in the finals, which will be held at HEC Montreal on March 20 and will feature a cocktail dinner and prizes.

From now until February 26, why not complete some online exercises to prepare (soon available / in French only).

Space is limited, so register today!

*Please note: The eligibility of whoever has the highest score in the Francophile category will be verified (native language, academic background, etc.) before this person can move on to the next stage.

  • Francophone category: correction of full text
  • Francophile category: correction of certain sentences
