Stephanie Chitpin

Author

Born in Hong Kong to unmarried parents, Stephanie Chitpin’s life took a dramatic turn from her very first days. Secretly transported to Mauritius in a woven straw basket, she grew up in a Buddhist temple, unaware of the extraordinary journey that lay ahead.

Her memoir, both intimate and inspiring, traces the path that led her from an orphanage on a small island in the Indian Ocean to the halls of academia in Canada, where she would become an internationally recognized expert in educational leadership and a professor at the University of Ottawa.

A powerful testament to resilience, perseverance, and hope, La Pagode, gardienne de ma mémoire reminds us that our origins do not define our future.
