I’ve had the privileged opportunity over the past two years to work with thousands of Canadians to co-examine our relationship with the ocean and the many waterways leading to it. Through our different cultural and regional perspectives and lived experiences, we are co-developing a national literacy strategy to be launched in 2021 in time for the start of the United Nations Ocean Decade. As Canadians, we have a civic responsibility to ensure that our behaviours, decisions, and actions make certain healthy waterways and a global ocean for future generations to come."
