Biography

Dr. Alizadeh is the co-founder and CEO of Giatec Scientific Inc., a knowledge-based company that develops smart concrete testing technologies. Dr. Alizadeh has more than 15 years of academic and industrial experience in the research and development of novel cementitious materials, non-destructive concrete testing technologies, and durability of concrete. Dr. Alizadeh received his PhD degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Ottawa in 2009. His doctoral research entitled “Nanostructure and Engineering Properties of Basic and Modified Calcium Silicate Hydrate Systems” was focused on improving our understanding of the nature of hydrated Portland cement systems and identifying novel methods to tailor their properties at the molecular level.

Dr. Alizadeh’s research has resulted in the publication of more than 70 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, and three patents and has been recognized by several awards including the OCRI Student Researcher of the Year Award, Doctoral Research Award, NSERC Post-Doctoral Fellowship, and Governor General’s Academic Gold Medal. Prior to co-founding Giatec, he co-established Construction Materials Institute. Dr. Alizadeh is an active member of various committees including CSA A23.1/A23.2, ACI 236 and 241, ASTM C04 and C09.
