Biography

I obtained my Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, Department of Computer Science. I have a M.Sc. and B.Eng. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

My research is in applications of Computational Linguistics.

I organized seven international workshops and I was a program co-chair for the AI 2012 conference. I am in the program committees of many conferences and I am an associate editor of the Computational Intelligence and the Natural Language Engineering journals.

I received many research grants from NSERC, SSHRC, and OCE, including industrial collaborations. I also received a honorific title of Visiting Professor of Computational Linguistics at the University of Wolverhampton, UK.
