Karim Alghoul is a lecturer, machine learning researcher, and software engineer with over ten years of experience across academia, AI research and the telecommunications industry. He is the recipient of the 2024 Award of Excellence in Teaching from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ottawa.
Alghoul earned his bachelor’s degree in telecommunications engineering and completed his master’s and PhD in electrical and computer engineering at the University of Ottawa. His research interests include affective computing, human-computer interaction, machine learning, AI in health care and computer vision.
Recently, his work has focused on addressing mental health challenges using machine learning and physiological measurement.
