Karim Alghoul is a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa who is also a machine learning researcher, with over five years of teaching experience and more than four years as a software engineer in the telecommunications industry. He is the recipient of the 2024 Award of Excellence in Teaching (Part-Time Professors) from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ottawa.
Karim earned his bachelor's degree in telecommunications in Lebanon and completed his master's in electrical and computer engineering at the University of Ottawa. His research interests include affective computing, human-computer interaction, machine learning, mobile health and computer vision. Recently, his work has focused on addressing mental health challenges using machine learning and physiological measurements.
He is currently in the final term of his Ph.D. in computer engineering.
