The forum will include:

  • a keynote address by Dr. Lígia Teixeira, who founded the Centre for Homelessness Impact in 2018 to strengthen the use of evidence, data and lessons learned across systems addressing homelessness in the U.K. and beyond
  • a fireside chat with Dr. Teixeira and Dr. Tim Aubry, emeritus professor and co-chair of the uOttawa Pop-Up Lab on Housing and Homelessness, moderated by Dr. Susan Farrell, CEO of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Ottawa. 

The event is presented by the Office of Public Policy Research and Outreach and the Alex Trebek Forum for Dialogue, both under the auspices of the OVPRI. The Office of Public Policy Research and Outreach helps uOttawa develop effective solutions to complex policy challenges and shape public policy in Canada and around the world.

Dr. Teixeira is one of the world’s foremost experts on applying test-and-learn methodologies to homelessness, helping governments and communities move from promising ideas to proven, scalable interventions. She is the founding chief executive of the Centre for Homelessness Impact, established in 2018 to strengthen the use of evidence, data and learning across homelessness systems in the U.K. and beyond.

Dr. Aubry is Emeritus Professor in the School of Psychology, senior researcher at the Centre for Research on Educational and Community Services at the University of Ottawa and co-chair of the uOttawa Pop-Up Lab on Housing and Homelessness.

Collaborative International Series on Innovation in Housing and Homelessness

The Collaborative International Series on Innovation in Housing and Homelessness, which provides decision-makers, community organizations, researchers and the public with evidence-based program and policy solutions to housing issues and homelessness in Ottawa. It welcomes internationally recognized researchers in the field for a series of visits.

The collaborative series is an initiative of the uOttawa Pop-Up Lab on Housing and Homelessness and the Centre for Research on Educational and Community Services. Partners include the office of Stéphanie Plante, City of Ottawa councillor, and the Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa. The series draws on interdisciplinary expertise and cross-sector collaborations to bring world-leading researchers to Ottawa and connect international and Canadian evidence with local action.
