France Rioux has been a professor at the School of Nutrition Sciences since 2009. She earned a bachelor’s degree in dietetics from Université Laval (1986), a master’s in nutrition from the Université de Montréal (1988) and a PhD in nutrition from the University of British Columbia (1993). After her doctoral degree, Professor Rioux completed a postdoctoral fellowship at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute in Vancouver. She began her academic career at the Université de Moncton.

Research
Professor Rioux focuses on iron nutritional status among specific groups at a high risk of iron deficiency or iron-deficiency anemia, including pregnant women, and impacts on child health and development. She is also investigating iron deficiency among female high-performance athletes.
